Meet Your Captain: Mrs. Marentes!
Welcome to our classroom community! Teaching is my passion, and I am thrilled to partner with you and your child for a year filled with curiosity, growth, and memorable learning experiences.
My background and experience
I have been an educator for over 10 years, coming from a family of passionate teachers who inspired me to make a real difference in the lives of children. I graduated from Indiana University East with a bachelor's in education and a minor in special education. Throughout my career, I have taught all elementary grade levels—specializing in upper elementary—as well as supporting middle school and high school students, coaching, and earning my high ability certification.
Hands-on, visual learning style
As a visual learner myself, I structure our classroom around engaging visuals, inquiry-based investigations, and interactive projects. I believe students thrive when they are active participants in their education, equipped with rich resources and guided opportunities to discover answers, solve problems, and achieve their personal best.
A little bit about me outside the classroom
Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband Gabriel and our three dogs—two cocker spaniels and a dalmatian. As a former dancer and dance coach, I still love dancing whenever I can! I also enjoy baking, watching football, playing board games with family, shopping, organizing, and celebrating the holiday season. Plus, I am completely obsessed with anything Disney!
